APPLIED IMAGE Announcing the NEW T-45 ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 Resolution Test Standard

Rochester NY APPLIED IMAGE Inc. is proud to announce its newest chart. It’s based on the latest ANSI/ISEA Z87.1.2015 Standard, American National Standard for Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices that was approved by the American National Standard Institute, Inc. on May 28, 2015.

The T-45 chart consists of 24 Sunburst Lines; 2 inner circles with continuous centered crosshair lines; and 1 set of vertical and horizontal 20 and 40 cycle per millimeter Ronchi gratings. The new chart is easier to use and vastly improved over the previously recommended T-40 chart, NBS Resolution Test Chart – 1952. With the addition of the Sunburst Lines for focusing and the astigmatism testing, it still retains the Ronchi gratings for resolution testing.

The methodology for using the T-45 chart is described within the ANSI/ISEA Standard in Section 9.4, “Refractive Power, Astigmatism and Resolution Power Tests”; is illustrated in Annex E., Figure E5 “Test Resolution Pattern with Radial Sunburst Power Target Superimposed”; and Annex G. “Illustration to Aid in Refractive Power, Astigmatism and Resolving Power Testing”. In addition, OSHA incorporates the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 into its regulations covering personal protection equipment. The Standard can be purchased from the webstore on the ANSI.ORG website.
