The CAD Technician/Project Manager oversees and manages projects related to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) in the company. This role involves utilizing AutoCAD software to create detailed drawings, collaborating with the production team, and ensuring that projects are completed within specified timelines.

The CAD Technician/Project Manager will also ensure the completeness and accuracy of the content within the job folder before it is released to the shop floor. To do so, they will interface with sales, purchasing, the technical manager, and production technicians to ensure all aspects of the job are understood.

CAD Technician essential functions:

1. Drawing Creation and Modification:

  • Generate detailed technical drawings, schematics, and plans using CAD software.
  • Modify existing drawings based on specifications and feedback.

2. Accuracy and Precision:

  • Ensure accuracy and precision in all drawings, travelers, and inspection forms to meet
    industry standards and project requirements.
  • Perform thorough quality checks on your own work and that of others.

3. Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to understand project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to incorporate feedback and make
    necessary adjustments.

4. CAD Software Proficiency:

  • Stay updated on the latest AutoCAD software and tools.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using AutoCAD software to create 2D.

5. Documentation:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for drawings and designs.
  • Organize and manage drawing files and related documentation.
  • Create inspection and calibration forms and bubble drawings for production use.
  • Organize and compile the job traveler folder to release to the shop floor.

6. Problem Solving

  • Identify and address design issues or conflicts within the project.

7. Standards Compliance:

  • Ensure that drawings comply with industry standards, QMS procedures, regulations, customer specifications, and company guidelines.
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant standards and implement them in drawings.

8. Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate with other departments and professionals involved in a project.
  • Run meetings to ensure projects stick to schedule.
  • Provide support to production when needed.

9. Time Management:

  • Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Prioritize tasks and allocate time appropriately to meet customer deadlines.

Education / Skills:
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or a related field required
  • Technical Drawing: Excellent skills in creating precise and detailed technical drawings and
    schematics
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all design work
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges and production
    issues
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using computers and CAD-related software
