Applied Image’s 2-year registered apprenticeship program.

The Applied Image Precision Imaging / Nanolithography Apprenticeship program prepares technicians for a rewarding long-term career in advanced manufacturing, supporting the future workforce demands of the optics, photonics, imaging, and semiconductor industries. The program consists of a two-year rotation throughout all the manufacturing departments at Applied Image to prepare employees with the skills that will help them become productive and
technically knowledgeable manufacturing technicians.

Topics

Each apprenticeship will be structured around the apprentice’s qualifications and needs but will include time spent in every manufacturing department at Applied Image, where they will gain experience in photolithography, dicing, mounting, assembly, quality, metrology, and calibration.

Goals

The goal of the apprenticeship program is to help students obtain the skills and qualifications required to become highly effective precision imaging/nanolithography technicians.

      • Materials – photographic and glass substrates, performance and quality
      • Photolithography – contact and direct write methods
      • Finishing processes – dicing, mounting, assembly
      • Quality control – inspection methods
      • Metrology & Calibration – perform measurements and calibration of final parts
      • Cleanroom – operation and safety
      • Quality Management System – operates within ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 programs
Qualifications
      • Open to current Applied Image employees and external candidates. If you’re not currently employed with us but are accepted into the program, you will become a full-time employee upon starting your apprenticeship.
      • Application – Apply and complete the selection interview process
      • Education – High school diploma or GED
      • Demonstrate proficiency in math, science, and verbal communication skills
Additional Requirements

In addition to the job rotation within Applied Image, each apprentice must take two classes from a community college each year related to optics, photonics, imaging, and semiconductor manufacturing. Applied Image covers tuition costs in full.

Min $20/hour upon completion:

Upon completing the apprenticeship program, candidates can advance to positions such as lead technician, trainer, or inter-departmental support staff.
